Dottie's Story:

I got Dottie, my pembroke welsh corgi, earlier this year. Her owners had had her since she was a puppy but decided to rehome her because they worked too much to continue keeping her. Back then she was crated almost 24/7 at home and boarded at a kennel frequently during her owners work trips.

I've never been able to have a dog before because of family allergies but its been a lifelong dream of mine to own a corgi (my favorite dog breed ever!) and I couldn't believe one had just fallen into my lap like that. I knew I couldnt pass this chance up so I aopted her immediatley. To do so I had to move out of my parent's house which made quite a dent in my finances as a college student working a minimum wage job, but I knew Dottie was worth every cent!

Only recently though I found out at a vet visit that Dottie had a cracked upper molar that the vet said would surely get infected if it wasn't already. He referred me to a dental specialist and I booked an appointment immediately, worrying that Dot was in pain, and we got even worse news. Not only was a molar cracked, both upper molars were cracked and a front incisor functionally dead. All were infected and due to how they were cracked, they all needed to be removed. What was more devastating is that the vet said that she had had these cracked and infected teeth probably for months and no one had noticed.

Luckily the vet was able to get her in for surgery the same day. The surgery cost was much much more than I was prepared for but to ensure she had this taken care of right away and was no longer in pain I agreed. We created this 'Chance' in an effort to recoup some of the funds for Dottie's surgery that are desperatley needed for rent and living expenses. Thank you for reading and sharing our story and thank you so much for any donations!

All Chances complete 30 days after they are first Submitted for Verification by the Pet Owner. The reason they end at all is because credit card refunds must be issued if the funds cannot be raised and, therefore, the treament will not be provided.

So, if a Chance will not be fulfilled by a doctor/provider within 30 days, the money must be refunded to the people who made donations.

Shortly before the Chance completion date Pet Chance will try to work with the doctor/provider to see if the treatment can be fulfilled with partial funding.

Our goal is to fullfil as many Chances as possible!

We call it Pet Care Assurance...

At Pet Chance, our goal is to empower pet owners to make the right decisions for their pets. By funding Chances where owners have already incurred debt we are giving the next owner facing that daunting decision confidence to provide their pet with the care it needs.

The more Chances where treatment was already provided to get funded, the more likely it is owners (and vets) will make the right medical decision first, and handle the financial obligation after the fact.

We encourage you to support the work we do to help pets and their owners so we can continue to run PetChance.org.

Our world-class customer service and national impact has honored us with Top Nonprofit awards from Great NonProfits. We can only do this thanks to your generous contributions!
