Sirius's Story:

I still remember the day I got Sirius, I had just went to visit a friend in Lakeland, a town about two hours away. She kept telling me a co-worker had found abandoned black kittens. She knew if she prodded long enough I'd take one, I'd always had a heart for cats, especially black cats. I couldn't say no.

He stayed  in my jacket on the ride home from Lakeland. He was scared but wanted to be near me to the whole time. After a few weeks of being in his new home, I was completely attached. What a great cat! He followed me everywhere, talked to me when I talked to him, and when it was time for bed I'd call and he'd come running.

It's been almost three year and he is the best cat I've ever had. We recently got another new addition to the family, another black cat named Sebastian. Sirius was not happy at first but soon came to love him. They both sleep with me every night.

This last weekend I noticed Sirius was in the litter box for too long. He also began crying, and not like his usual meowing for attention; this was more like howling. I took him to the vet Monday and was told he had a UTI. I would need to change his diet, and give him a script of antibiotics. By Wednesday I could tell he wasn't better. He wasn't using his litter box, and even though he still wanted love I could tell he was in pain. I returned to the vet and was told his infection had turned into a blockage and he'd need to stay until Saturday.

I was horrified to leave him alone in a foreign place, but the vet told me if I had he'd die. When I was told about the bill I didn't know what to do. I just lost my job and my boyfriend and I have to move out of our place by the end of the month. Bills keep piling up, and I don't know what to do. At the end of the day I love my cat more than anything, and there isn't much I wouldn't do to keep him alive.

"What greater gift, than the love of a cat?"

All Chances complete 30 days after they are first Submitted for Verification by the Pet Owner. The reason they end at all is because credit card refunds must be issued if the funds cannot be raised and, therefore, the treament will not be provided.

So, if a Chance will not be fulfilled by a doctor/provider within 30 days, the money must be refunded to the people who made donations.

Shortly before the Chance completion date Pet Chance will try to work with the doctor/provider to see if the treatment can be fulfilled with partial funding.

Our goal is to fullfil as many Chances as possible!

We call it Pet Care Assurance...

At Pet Chance, our goal is to empower pet owners to make the right decisions for their pets. By funding Chances where owners have already incurred debt we are giving the next owner facing that daunting decision confidence to provide their pet with the care it needs.

The more Chances where treatment was already provided to get funded, the more likely it is owners (and vets) will make the right medical decision first, and handle the financial obligation after the fact.

We encourage you to support the work we do to help pets and their owners so we can continue to run PetChance.org.

Our world-class customer service and national impact has honored us with Top Nonprofit awards from Great NonProfits. We can only do this thanks to your generous contributions!
